The Money Trail – Geelong, August 17

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Geelong.

Gridelin (Race 1) opened as favourite but has only tightened her grip on favouritism at $3.10 since then, almost half a point shorter than her opening quote. She has finished runner up at her three career runs, all in the city, and looks hard to beat today.

Northern Lion (Race 2) just scraped into the field as an emergency but punters have latched on to him, more than halving his early double figure quote to $5. The well bred colt started at single figures when last at his only start in the city but spelled since he could be a better horse this time around.

Fabulonh (Race 8) has taken over at the head of the market at $2.90 after firming more than two dollars early on. He led throughout to win at Sandown when resuming and has been good in his two previous second up ruins.
