Karaka 2018 - Diverse List Of First Season SIres

Karaka 2018 will see a diverse first crop of yearlings representing 19 exciting new sires from New Zealand, Australia, and Europe.

The list features:

ADELAIDE - Brilliant Cox Plate winning son of one of the great Galileo.

ATLANTE – The son of Fastnet Rock had his stud career cut short at Mapperley Stud after just two seasons. He was a proven stakes winner on both sides of the Tasman winning the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas.

BRAZEN BEAU - Multiple Group winner and Champion Sprinter by I am Invincible. Retired in 2015 as the winner of the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and G1 VRC Newmarket Handicap.

CHARM SPIRIT - Windsor Park Stud’s exciting import was a winner at two with an additional five wins at three including the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot and the G1 Prix du Moulin and G1 Prix Jean Prat in France. By Invincible Spirit.

DEEP FIELD - Winner of five of his eight starts and a Northern Meteor full brother to Shooting To Win.

DISSIDENT – Sebring’s Australian Horse of the Year and Champion Sprinter after winning five G1 races.

EL ROCA - Son of Fastnet Rock won three races including Listed events on both sides of the Tasman and was twice placed at G1 level.

GHIBELLINES - White Robe Lodge based son of Shamardal is a G2 winner and half-brother to the four-time G1 winner Guelph.

HALLOWED CROWN - Dual G1 winner won six of his nine starts including the G1 Randwick Guineas and G1 Golden Rose.

KINGMAN - Leading first season sire at European and North America sales by average. Classic winning miler of four G1 races by Invincible Spirit out of classic winner Zenda.

OLYMPIC GLORY - Four-time G1-winning sprinter and miler by Choisir. Crowned Champion 2YO and Champion 3YO Miler who won eight races.

PROISIR - Rich Hill Stud’s young recruit by influential stallion Choisir and a full-brother to Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet. Won three races including the G3 Newcastle Spring Stakes and was G1 placed in the Spring Champion Stakes and Randwick Guineas.

PURE CHAMPION - Elite winner of eight races in Ireland, the UK, Hong Kong and NZ where he won the G1 Windsor Park Plate. Stands at Willow Glen Stud in the South Island.

RUBICK - Highest rated 2YO colt of his generation by Encosta De Lago winning three of his eight starts including two at Group level.

SACRED FALLS - Best performing son of champion sire O’Reilly. Unbeaten in six starts in NZ including G1 NZ 2000 Guineas and three other black-type races and dual winner of the G1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick in 2013 and 2014.

SHOOTING TO WIN - G1 Caulfield Guineas winner in faster time than Lonhro and Redoute’s Choice. Son of Northern Meteor shuttled to Ireland in 2016.

TORONADO - G1-winning son of the hugely successful High Chaparral who won six of his 12 starts including the G1 Queen Anne Stakes and G1 Sussex Stakes. Shuttle between UK and Australia and will stand in France in 2018.

WANDJINA - Son of champion sire Sniztel won the G1 Australian Guineas.
