The century for Fastnet Rock came at Newmarket in the UK on October 7 when the Anthony Martin-trained 4YO mare Laganore won the Listed Pride Stakes to become his 15th stakes winner this year.

From nine crops of racing age, Fastnet Rock has sired 1221 runners that have earned more than $90 million. His 100 black-type winners include 63 Group winners.

Australian-bred Fastnet Rock is by Danehill out of the Royal Academy mare Piccadilly Circus and was bought back by Coolmore after he was offered at the 2003 Easter yearling sale in Sydney.

He raced for a Coolmore syndicate that included agent Demi O'Byrne, Michael Kirwan, Ken Barry and Duncan Grimley and was crowned Australia's champion 3YO and Champion Sprinter in 2004-2005, retiring with more than $1.3 million in earnings.

Fastnet Rock went to stud in 2007 and stood his first six seasons in Australia, becoming an immediate success with 10 stakes winners in his first two crops and 20 by 2011.

Now 15, he began shuttling to Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2012 and for the past four years has sired at least 18 black-type stakes winners each year including 23 in 2015.

This year his Group winners include Intricately (G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes); Fascinating Rock (G1 Tattersalls Gold CupI), One Foot In Heaven, Somehow, Zhukova, Cougar Mountain and Rivet in the UK, Ireland and Europe; and Awesome Rock, Mongolian Falcon and Ringo in Australia and New Zealand.

Laganore is a daughter of the unraced Royal Applause mare Lady Bones and races for her breeders Newtown Anner Stud.

Lady Bones is a half sister to champion Hong Kong stayer Blazing Speed (Dylan Thomas). She won twice last year and has added another three wins this term along with a G3 placing.
