Royal Ascot - Dansili Deserved The Plaudits

Dansili was the unsung hero among all the plaudits handed to various sires for their success at Royal Ascot last week.

Mahsoob wins the Wolferton Picture: Racing and Sports

Young gun Zoffany’s two-year-old treble and a G1 double for Oasis Dream gave those stallions plenty of headline space, but it was Dansili who deserved recognition for his success on a number of fronts.

He exerted a considerable influence as he is the sire of boom first season stallion Zoffany and appeared in the pedigrees of Tercentenary Stakes winner Time Test, It’s Hardwicke Stakes winner Snow Sky and Diamond Jubilee Stakes third Astaire as their broodmare sire.

They are results that add to the appeal of Dansili for Australian breeders as he will cover mares to Southern Hemisphere time this year for a fee of £70,000

Dansili shone on the final day when his impressive son Mahsoob maintained his unbeaten record in the Listed Wolferton Handicap, becoming the 101st stakes winner for the Juddmonte Farms-owned son of Danehill.

Trained by John Gosden for his owner-breeder Sheikh Hamdan, Mahsoob is the winner of all his four starts and is being talked up as a contender for the G1 King George and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

Mahsoob represents an imposing Shadwell female family, being the first foal from the Montjeu mare Mooakada, a a stakes placed three-parts sister to UK winners Rewaaya and Tumooh.

Mooakada is a daughter of the Darshaan mare Sulaalah from the family of Bint Shadayid, a G1 placed daughter of Nashwan, and Sheikh Hamdan's dual G1 winner Shadayid.

* WHILE Mahsoob is a Shadwell-owned and bred winner by a Juddmonte sire, the G2 Hardwicke Stakes winner Snow Sky (Nayef x Winter Silence, by Dansili) was a Juddmonte-owned and bred winner by a Shadwell sire.

Nayef, a son of Gulch, won four G1 races for Sheikh Hamdan and stands at his Nunnery Stud where he has sired 21 stakes winners.

Snow Sky, from the stakes-placed Dansili mare Winter Silence, the dam of two other winners and a half-sister to G1 winners Polish Summer and Meteor Storm.

Snow Sky, trained by Sir Michael Stoute for Khalid Abdullah, has now won five of his 13 career starts.

* YOUMZAIN, the three-time Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up by Sinndar, sired his first stakes winner at Royal Ascot when Suits You won the Chesham Stakes.

Youmzain, who won the G1 Preis von Europa and G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud for trainer Mick Channon, is a half-brother to Lockinge Stakes winner Creachadoir and stands at Haras du Quesnay in Normandy.

Suits You was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock from winning Oasis Dream mare Lady Fashion.

Oasis Dream sired two G1 winners at Royal Ascot - Goldream in the King's Stand Stakes and Muhaarar in the inaugural Commonwealth Cup.

Suits You was bought at the Osarus yearling sale in France last year by Charel Bloodstock for €12,000.
