Joshua Tree retired to stand in France

Joshua Tree, a three-time winner of the Grade 1 Canadian International Stakes, has been retired to stand at Haras du Grand Courgeon in France.

He will join another recent retiree at the stud in the shape of the Group 1-placed Very Nice Name, who was announced as standing there last week.

As well as his successes at Woodbine, Joshua Tree also scored twice at Group 2 level, winning the Royal Lodge Stakes as a juvenile and the Prix Kergorlay in 2012.

The well travelled seven-year-old has raced in nine different countries including Britain, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Dubai and Qatar.

Bred by Castlemartin Stud and Skymarc Farm, Jushua Tree was a 360,000gns purchase by Demi O'Byrne at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales in 2008.

Joshua Tree is out of the Grand Lodge mare Madeira Mist, who was like her son achieved her greatest success around Woodbine where she took the Grade 3 Dance Smartly Handicap. The new sire hails from the family of Coronation Stakes winner Magic Of Life

His fee for the 2015 breeding season will be €2,500.
