Glenfiddich has found a home at stud with the son of Fastnet Rock to take up residence at Aquis Farm's Queensland property.

It was announced last month that Glenfiddich had been retired due to issues associated with the injury that meant he has not started since the 2020 Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Aquis on Monday announced that it had secured the Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter, who will stand for $8800.

"We couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to stand a stallion of this calibre," Aquis' Director of Sales, Jonathan Davies, said of the four-year-old.

"Glenfiddich is an outstanding athlete and breeders love a horse that showed so much precocity yet could mature and take it up to the best of them over a mile."

Glenfiddich, who was purchased for $200,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, started his career with Robbie Griffiths, who prepared him to finish second, splitting now-stallions King's Legacy and Ole Kirk, in the G1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at two.

He was transferred to Peter Moody ahead of his three-year-old season, in which he finished third in the G1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) before a dominant win in the G2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m).

Edinburgh Park Stud's Ian Smith, who bred Glenfiddich and maintained an interest in him during his racing career, was thrilled to see the product of First Defence mare Nothin But A Dream find a home at Aquis.

"We always had a lot of confidence in Glenfiddich and it's not hard to work out why; he's such a lovely type of horse, with a great temperament and that family has worked so well for us," Smith said.

"There's something like 10 stakes horses alone in the second dam, while others on the page represent some of the best racehorses we've seen on Australian tracks over the last decade or so.

"Edinburgh Park was very happy to retain a share in Glenfiddich after the yearling sale and we're ecstatic that he's heading to Aquis Farm where he will get every opportunity to succeed."
