Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud purchases daughter of Fastnet Rock for $750,000
Over the two days of trade, Yarraman Park have sold 19 mares for a gross of $6,627,500 at an average of $348,816 and on Wednesday winning Fastnet Rock (Danehill) Lady Sharapova handed the farm another memorable result when she was bought by Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud for $750,000.
Catalogued as Lot 849, the mare was offered in foal to Yarraman’s resident superstar stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).
The mare has two of her progeny offered at public auction, with her second foal - Game To Love (I Am Invincible) - purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for $450,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year and she in training with Mick Price and Michael Kent jnr and is unraced.
Her third foal - a filly by Coolmore Stud resident Pierro (Lonhro) was purchased by Guy Mulcaster for $60,000 at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Lady Sharapova produced a colt by I Am Invincible last spring and Scown said he would most likely be headed for either next year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale or the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
“The colt we have out of her by I Am Invincible is an absolute stunner,” said Scown. “He is a beautiful horse and he could easily go to either Magic Millions or Easter, so I think they have bought very well with her because she throws excellent types.
“The two-year-old with Mick Price is a really nice filly and the Pierro last year was also a good style of filly.”
Scown said the mare would now be heading back to Yarraman and would be covered by I Am Invincible next spring.
“Julia Ritchie, who bought her, has a breeding right in I Am Invincible, so the mare will come back to Yarraman to live and she will visit I Am Invincible this year.”
