Time Saver topped Wednesday’s session. A 3-year-old daughter of Frankel, Time Saver was bought by Aquis Farm for 750,000gns on the penultimate day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale in Newmarket.

From the Juddmonte Farms draft, Time Saver is an unraced daughter of the winning Sadler’s Wells mare Clepsydra making her a half-sister to Group 1 winners Timepiece and Passage Of Time. who is herself the dam of multiple Group winner Time Test. This is also the family of multiple Group 1 winner Twice Over.

"She is for Aquis,"said Demi O'Byrne after signing the docket. "She is very good-looking filly, breeding plans have not been decided but she might well be bred in Europe."

Time Saver is the most expensive acquisition for Aquis at Tattersalls to date, exceeding the farm's purchase of the Fastnet Rock colt out of Pride bought at this year's October Book 1 Yearling Sale for 725,000gns.

A few lots earlier Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock went to 130,000gns on behalf of Burnewang North to secure Kingman filly Racine. Another from the Juddmonte Farms draft, Racine raced once at two last year and a daughter of the French champion 2-year-old filly Proportional.

"She is for Burnewang North," said Gabbedy. "The farm is in Victoria and is run by Cathy Hains. This is a first purchase in Europe and Cathy was keen to tap into a leading Juddmonte family.

"We did a lot of research into the filly – she had ability and was sent off favourite for her sole run.

"She is by an up-and-coming future champion sire in Kingman, is out of a Group 1 winner in Proportional, from a deep family and she will be an outcross in Australia."

Tweenhills and Widden signed for 2 lots on Wednesday the most expensive of those being Fastnet Rock filly Orlaith. Bought from Iain Jardine Racing, Orlaith is a Lised winning 2-year-old out of the unraced mare Cmonbabylitemyfire who is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Toormore and Group 2 winner Estidhkaar.

The sale was a good result for owners James Fyffe and Scott Fyffe who bought her privately for €14,500 after she had been passed in at last year’s Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.

Tweenhills and Widden also secured Lope De Vega mare Savanne Sauvage for 24,000gns on Wednesday.

Time Saver was the only lot to sell for over 500,000gns on Wednesday with the Juddmonte Farms draft providing the 4 top lots of the day. Blandford Bloodstock secured two of those, paying 300,000gns for Bated Breath filly Wild Rye and 260,000gns for Time Tunnel, a daughter of Invincible Spirit out of Timepiece. The BBA Ireland meanwhile bought Oboe, a daughter of Mizzen Mast out of Flute, for 290,000gns. The 24 lots from the draft that sold realised 2,809,000gns.

Overall on Wednesday 196 of the 231 lots offered sold at a clearance rate of 85%, slightly down on the figure of 87% last year when 205 of the 236 lots offered were sold. The aggregate was up 14% to 5,911,300gns from the corresponding session in 2018 whilst the median rose 40% to 14,000gns and the average jumped 19% to 30,568gns.
