Each year, New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales Series features a number of quality thoroughbred youngsters that catch the eye of astute pinhookers looking to further their investments.
Yearlings purchased at Karaka 2023 fetched significant prices at this year's Ready to Run Sale. Particularly New Zealand-bred and sired horses that were initially secured for a modest outlay, where a number of top judges enjoyed profitable rewards and much less risk.

An Ardrossan colt out of Queen of Pop was sold for $440,000 at the 2023 Ready to Run Sale after being purchased ten months earlier for just $80,000 from Elsdon Park's Book 1 draft by KD & PJ Landrigan / Pertab Racing.
Ardrossan is represented by 19 yearlings at Karaka 2024.
$100,000 → $300,000
Purchased for $100,000 by Ohukia Lodge from Brighthill Farm's Book 1 draft at Karaka 2023, the Almanzor x Montrachet colt went on to sell for $300,000 at the Ready to Run Sale as Lot 144 from Ohukia Lodge's draft.
Almanzor is represented by 64 yearlings at Karaka 2024.
$120,000 → $310,000
A Super Seth colt out of Savodara was purchased for $120,000 by C Fairman at Karaka 2023 from Waikato Stud's Book 1 draft. Ten months later he sold for $310,000 at the NZB Ready to Run Sale as Lot 222 from Ohukia Lodge's draft.
Super Seth is represented by 40 yearlings at Karaka 2024.
From Book 2 of Karaka 2023, an Ardrossan colt out of Venetian Raider was purchased by Bell Racing for $150,000 from Highline Thoroughbreds. He later sold for $325,000 at the Ready to Run Sale as Lot 294 from Riversley Parks draft.
He has a full brother catalogued in Book 2 as Lot 1029.

Purchased for just $30,000, was the Almanzor x Rose Meer colt was sourced from Woburn Farm's Book 2 draft at Karaka 2023 by Buckland Farms. At the Ready to Run Sale later that year he sold for $220,000 as Lot 213 from the Kiltannon Stud draft.
