The Joseph O’Brien-trained Mighty Blue (5 m ex Millionaia by Peintre Celebre) added valuable black-type to her record when she took out the Vintage Tipple Stakes (Listed, 1m6f) in impressive fashion at Gowran Park on Wednesday and in the process handed Jockey Club of Turkey-based sire Authorized (Montjeu) with his 35th stakes winner.

Ridden by Dylan Browne McMonagle, the mare went clear inside the penultimate furlong and kept galloping on strongly to beat Lismone (Zoffany) by an emphatic seven and a half lengths. Yaxeni (Maxios) was a further head further away in third.

Purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for €55,000 at the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale in 2019, the mare is out of winning Group 1-placed Peintre Celebre (Nureyev) mare Millionaia (Peintre Celebre), making her a three-quarter sister to Listed winner Modern Eagle (Montjeu) - the dam of Listed-placed Masterpiece (Mastercraftsman).

Millionaia herself a daughter of Group 1 winner Moonlight Dance (Alysheba) - the gramdam of Ming Dynasty (King’s Best) and the dam of Heartbreak City (Lando), who finished a narrow second to Almandin (Monsun) in the 2016 running of the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m).

Authorized shuttled to Australia for four seasons and his 35 stakes winners are headed by six Group 1 scorers, including Australian top-flight winners Hartnell, Poumanu and the now Mapperley Stud-based sire Complacent.
