Haras du Logis-based stallion Hunter’s Light (Dubawi) was represented by his first stakes winner on Saturday as his daughter Irska (3 f ex Eire by Medicean) produced a shock result in the Prix De Lieurey (Gr 3, 1600m) in Deauville.

Irska came into the race off the back of a third place finish in the Prix Melisande (Listed, 2100m) and she clearly appreciated the step back in trip, beating Althiqa (Dark Angel) by a length and a quarter. Cloak Of Spirits (Invincible Spirit) finished another three-quarters of a length further back in third.

The three-year-old filly is out of Listed-placed five time winner Eire (Medicean), making her a half-sister to Group 3-placed Happy Approach (New Approach) and Toijk (Siyouni).

Further back this is the same family as Grade 1 winner Storm Trooper (Diesis).

Hunter’s Choice has sired 17 winners in total and he stood at Haras du Logis for a fee of €4,000 in 2020.

Meanwhile, later on in the afternoon in Deauville, Arcano (Oasis Dream) sired his 15th stakes winner, when Bonita Queen (2 f ex Siendra by Refuse to Bend) broke her maiden status in the Prix De La Vallee D’Auge (Listed, 1000m).

The two-year-old filly beat La Discoteca (Anjaal) into second, while Tea Dance (Adaay) came home in third.

Arcano stood at Allevamento di Besnate in Italy for a fee of €5,000 in 2020.
