Rock Of Gibraltar sires 134th stakes winner

Ten Year Ticket preserves unbeaten record

Rock of Gibraltar.

The Jim Bolger-trained Ten Year Ticket (3 g ex Bulrushes by Byron) took his record to two wins from as many starts when he landed the Holden Plant Rental (C&G) Trial Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Leopardstown on Tuesday and in the process handed former shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill) with his 134th stakes winner.

A winner of his only start at the Curragh as a two-year-old, the gelding made the perfect start to his three-year-old season, prevailing in a close finish to beat King Of Athens (War Front) by a neck with another length and three quarters back to Prince Of Naples (Holy Roman Emperor) in third.

The gelding is out of the unraced Byron (Green Desert) mare Bulrushes, making him a half-brother to Group 3 winners Snazzy Jazzy (Red Jazz) and Ross Castle (Bushranger).

Bulrushes is herself a half-sister to Group 2 winner Tariq (Kyllachy) and the dam of fellow Group 2 winner Mobsta (Bushranger).

Further afield this is the family of Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Wi Dud (Elnadim).

The sire of 16 Group 1 winners, Rock Of Gibraltar shuttled to Australia for eight seasons and he is represented by 25 stakes winners in Australasia, headed by 2009 Epsom Handicap (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Rock Kingdom.

The son of Danehill (Danzig) stood at Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2020 for a fee of €6,000.
