Too Darn Hot was crowned Australia's Champion First-Season Sire when the curtain came down on the season at the completion of Wednesday's racing.

The Darley stallion's progeny amassed $4,164,810 in earnings, which was almost double that of second-placed Tassort ($2,159,935).

A son of Dubawi, Too Darn Hot had more runners than any other freshman sire (41) and was also leading sire by winners (12) and wins (18).

The Australian results have continued a stellar start to life as a stallion for the three-time Group 1 winner, who is one of Europe's most exciting young stallions.

His star performer in Australia has been Broadsiding, who was the lone dual Group 1-winning two-year-old of the season, having won the Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and J J Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Also trained by Cummings, Broadsiding is Too Darn Hot's only Australian Stakes winner, but he has also had Arabian Summer win the $1m Magic Millions National 2YO Classic and $250,000 Magic Millions Ballarat Classic.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained filly also twice placed at Stakes grade and is his highest-rated filly, having run to 106 on the Timeform scale.

Silmarillion, who is hot favourite for the $60,000 Schweppes Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm, is yet to win but is one of five 100-plus-raters for Too Darn Hot thanks to a second placing in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes.

Broadsiding owns a peak Timeform rating of 116, which makes him the fifth highest-rated juvenile of the season behind Coleman (120), Traffic Warden (119), Lady Of Camelot (118) and Switzerland (117).

This season's performers were part of his first Aussie crop, who were served off a $44,000 fee, which he also stood for the past three seasons, and while Godolphin initially announced he would be returning at a fee of $110,000 it was later decided he would not shuttle.
