Can Winx’s filly break yearling sale records at this year’s Easter Yearling Sale?
Whether Winx's daughter can better the record Australian price for a yearling is a topic of hot debate ahead of her sale on Monday, but it seems likely she will at least break one record.
Pre-sale hype suggests, come Monday afternoon, the filly by Pierro will be the highest-priced filly ever sold in Australia.
That record is jointly held by the sister to Sunlight (Zoustar x Solar Charged) who sold for $2.6 million, the same amount paid for a daughter of Redoute's Choice and Helsinge – the dam of Black Caviar – in 2012.
The latter filly, who raced as Belle Couture, was a sister to the highest-priced colt, who sold for $5 million at the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
MOST EXPENSIVE YEARLING COLTS
$5,000,000 – Redoute's Choice x Helsinge (Inglis 2013): Half-brother to Black Caviar who died before he got to the racetrack.
$4,000,000 – Fastnet Rock x River Dove (Inglis 2013): Raced as Emaratee, had two starts before dying as a four-year-old.
$3,000,000 – Redoute's Choice x Deja Slew (Inglis 2006): Raced as Nodoubt Deja in South Africa, where he won one race.
$3,000,000 – Zoustar x Solar Charged (Inglis 2022): Brother to Sunlight who races as Kandinsky Abstract who brought up his second win, as start No 6, at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
$3,000,000 – Rock of Gibraltar x L'on Vite (Inglis 2007): Raced as Mount Olympus and had 20 starts for one win.
$2,800,000 – Snitzel x Ichihara (Inglis 2019): Races as Mount Fuji and, like Kandinsky Abstract, made it into the winner's stall on Wednesday, winning at Doomben.
$2,700,000 – Redoute's Choice x Salameh (Inglis 2008): Raced as L'Heritier and retired a maiden after six starts.
$2,700,000 – I Am Invincible x Anaheed (Magic Millions 2023): Yet to race or trial, but has been named Superluminal and is in the care of Chris Waller.
FILLIES
$2,600,000 – Redoute's Choice x Helsinge (Inglis 2012): Sister to the $5m colt, and half-sister to Black Caviar, who raced as Belle Couture and raced only four times with her sole victory coming in a Caulfield maiden.
$2,600,000 – Zoustar x Solar Charged (Magic Millions 2023): Sister to Sunlight who is yet to race but has been named Clean Energy and is in the care of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
Winx's filly is Lot 391 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, which start on Sunday, and she is expected to go through the ring early afternoon on Monday.
