Group winner dies at Living Legends at the age of 20
Living Legends announced on Tuesday via Twitter that Zipping (Danehill) has died. He was 20.
Owned by Lloyd Williams, Zipping raced 47 times for 16 wins and ten placings including the Turnbull Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) as a nine-year-old in 2010 and the Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) earlier that year. The son of Danehill (Danzig) also won the 2007 Sandown Classic (Gr 2, 2400m) - now named in his honour and ran second in the 2008 Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) and third in that race the year later.
Zipping's racing career spanned eight seasons and he was originally trained by Graeme Rogerson before John Sadler and his career ended under the career of Robert Hickmott. His career earnings totalled over $4.5 million.
