Eureka Stud-based first season sire Defcon (Choisir) recorded his first winner on Friday when Alert And Ready (2 f ex Plumage by Red Dazzler) broke her maiden at Toowoomba.

Trained by Kevin Kemp, Alert And Ready scored an impressive three and three quarter length victory over Agustawynd (Spill The Beans). Hear Hear (Domesday) was two and three quarter lengths further back in third.

Bought by Kemp Racing for $40,000 from the draft of Eureka Stud at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Alert And Ready becomes the fourth winner, from as many foals to race, out of the five-time winner Plumage (Red Dazzler).
