Daughter of I Am Invincible wins at Warwick Farm
Having had a few near misses as a two-year-old, the Star Thoroughbreds-raced Joviality (3 f I Am Invincible - Limbo Down by Fastnet Rock) made a winning start to her three-year-old season when taking out the Frosted at Darley Maiden Handicap (1300m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Trained by Chris Waller, the three-year-old drew clear in the final stages to beat Game Theory (So You Think) by three and a half lengths, while the winners stablemate Grenado (Pierro) - who is also raced by Star Thoroughbreds - was another nose away in third.
Waller said the filly has taken a bit of time to mature, but is now expecting bigger things from her.
"We thought she might have been measuring up to our better two-year-olds but time was against her and now she is starting to mature into herself," Waller said.
"She did everything right today and showed good acceleration at the top of the straight."
Purchased by Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds and Randwick Bloodstock for $330,000 at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the Fairhill Farm draft, Joviality is the third winner out of the winning Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Limbo Down, who is herself a daughter of winning mare Bimbo Limbo (Belong To Me).
Bimbo Limbo is a half-sister to Black Opal Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winner Handsome Ransom (Red Ransom) and Listed winner Danajaya (Danehill).
Star Thoroughbreds and Randwick Bloodstock paired up again at this year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale to purchase the filly's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) sister, now named Affability - for $350,000 from the Fairhill Farm draft.
I Am Invincible will stand at Yarraman Park for a fee of $209,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
