Rathlin Scores In Phelan Ready

154th stakes winner for Fastnet Rock.

Wednesday's rescheduled Phelan Ready Stakes (Listed) was won by the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained colt Rathlin who provided his Coolmore Australia-based sire Fastnet Rock with his 154th stakes winner.

Rathlin scored a 3 length victory over Deep Field colt Kavak with another son of Fastnet Rock in War Memorial third.

Two races later Snitzel filly Away Game provided the stable with a juvenile stakes double and both winners will now head towards next month's Magic Millions 2YO Classic (Restricted Listed).

Having her second start, Away Game beat Smart 'N' Sexy by two and a quarter lengths with Miss Lot Won third.

"We are having a very good two-year-old season. I think that was our seventh 2-year-old winner for the season," stable Annabel Neasham said.

"Rathlin and Away Game are both nice horses and now they are in the field there is no rush with them.

"The stable has had a bit of luck in Queensland and let's hope that it continues."

A $725,000 purchase by Aquis Farms from the Kitchwin Hills draft at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Rathlin is the ninth foal out of stakes placed More Than Ready mare Wiener. She is herself out of dual Listed winner Snippets' Lass making her a half-sister to Snitzel and the late Yarraman Park-based sire Hinchinbrook.

Wiener produced a filly by I Am Invincible after Rathlin and was then covered by Redoute's Choice and foaled a colt by him last month.

Away Game meanwhile was bought for $425,000 by Kerri Radcliffe Bloodstock from the draft of Mill Park. She is the sixth living foal out of stakes placed Elusive Quality mare Elusive Wonder who is also the dam of Dequetteville Stakes (Listed) winner Modern Wonder, another daughter of Snitzel.

Segenhoe will offer Elusive Wonder's Not A Single Doubt filly on the Gold Coast in January and she was covered by Merchant Navy last October producing a filly.

The victory provided Elusive Wonder with her fifth winner from as many foals to race and the 95th stakes winner for Arrowfield Stud's Snitzel.
