Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Canterbury.

Shahrazad (Race 3) has taken over as the favourite at $3 having most halved her opening quote. The mare ran a much improved race last start when a close up fourth last start and should be peaking after three runs this time in.

Somebody (Race 5) has been well backed early on, firming almost four points and into favouritism at $3.30. The mare has won her last two starts on the country circuit and there is some confidence she can take the step up to city class.

Dam Ready (Race 7) could be worth an each way ticket at $5 after firming three and a half points since market opened. The gelding made up good ground last start and looks well placed back to midweek company.
