Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Geelong.

Mossbelle (Race 3) is a popular favourite at $3.30 having firmed a half point since market opened. The filly has placed at three of four runs and was a big improver last start so could progress again third up.

Perfect Statue (Race 5) has taken over on the top line of betting at $3.30 having shortened more than a point. The promising filly has won her last two starts and the punters are confident she can complete the hat trick.

Smartson (Race 7) has been heavily backed into $2.10, 65 cents shorter than his initial quote. He showed good improvement to place last start and should be ready to peak third up and out to this trip.

Von Richter (Race 8) is now the favourite having firmed more than four points to $3.40. The filly wasn’t far off the placegetters last start and the market push suggests she is ready to strike in what looks a winnable race.
