Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Monday’s meeting at Geelong.

Track: Synthetic

Rail: True entire circuit

First race: 1.00pm

Heza Magic Man (Race 4) has been a noticeable firmer in the market, his fixed price tumbling into $3.70 in early betting. He resumes today after racing over longer journeys last campaign but has placed fresh and his best ratings are among the highest in the field.

Time Commands (Race 5) is a heavily backed market elect, firming more than two points into dominant favouritism at $2.50. The mare has put together a strong record at this course, finishing fourth at her latest run here after a second and a maiden win. She runs for the powerful combination of jockey Michael Walker and trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

Macrobius (Race 6) has been well supported at longer, firming a couple of points but still offering good each way value at $7. He has one of the highest last start ratings in the field, achieved when runner up at this track and distance and after also placing at his previous outing is being given a good hope of running top three again.

Costa Plenty (Race 7) is another offering each way odds despite firming in from double figures to $6.50. A last start winner at this track and distance, he remains at the same benchmark level and has won three and placed at three of his nine attempts on all weather surfaces.

Brightly Goes (Race 8) has firmed into second favouritism at $5 in an open race, shortening several points on his opening quote. He resumes from a spell but has placed at his two previous fresh runs and has never missed a place at this distance.
