The Money Trail – Flemington, Saturday June 11

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Saturday’s meeting at Flemington.

Track: Soft 5

Rail: +6m entire circuit

First race: 11.45am

Southerly Wind (Race 1) is one of a couple of horses to be backed in the opener but his has been the best go, taking over as $4 favourite after double figures were bet early. The first starter is a son of Zoffany and hasn’t been seen in an official trial but is trained by the in-form Mick Kent, who has been striking at 22 per cent over the past month.

Wall Street Wolf (Race 3) has been heavily backed to make a winning debut, opening at double figures but being hammered into $3.50 favourite. A six-length winner of a Geelong barrier trial, the son of Written Tycoon comes from the Hayes-Dabernig stable and punters are confident he can make a winning debut.

Whoop Whoop (Race 6) has taken over at the head of the market at $3.70 after firming in nearly two whole points. He has the highest last-start rating in the field after running third at this track last start after a Cranbourne win when resuming and with just three career runs under the belt is expected to make further progress.
