Commanding win in Kensington Stakes

The late money suggested First Command was ready to give the Listed Kensington Stakes at Flemington a big shake – and it was spot on!

Bets of $3,000 @ $5.50, $2,000 @ $5.50, $1,600 @ $5.50 and $2,000 @ $5.50 late in betting all hit the mark as the Steven Arnold-ridden galloper held off the fast-finishing favourite Weekend Special.

Decircles, well tried in early betting markets ($9 into $5.50 at one point), finished third.

The rider of Decircles, Dwayne Dunn, fired in a protest against Michael Rodd on Weekend Special, which was subsequently upheld.

Therefore the official placings were First Command (1st), Decircles (2nd) and Weekend Special (3rd).

First Command was $4.60 out to $6 before the late money saw it start at $5 on TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds.
