The Rosehill Wrap - November 25

Race by race recap of key performers and ones to watch moving forward from Saturday’s meeting at Rosehill.

Rosehill played host to yet another solid meeting as far as off season standards go.

Dreamforce built on a solid first up showing by leading throughout over 1500m in the last event on the card while Morton’s Fork produced an eye catcher on resuming with a fourth in Race 6.

The common theme with the duo is both were gelded in their latest spells and perhaps now ready to realise their potential as racehorses.

Race 1: Secret Lady - 2YO Golden Gift (1100m)

Secret Lady is testament to the adage nothing beats race experience. She was up against a couple of colts on debut in Plague Stone and Cosimo who have a boom on them and she was too good.

The filly led throughout and ran to a Timeform rating of 93.

That’s well below the best 2YO’s we’ve seen so far this season. That said, she’s a Magic Millions purchase so she can contest restricted races like the Wyong Magic Millions next month and then the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.

The runner up Plague Stone was beaten as a $1.35 favourite. The talent is certainly there however the colt is simply a bit green. Worth forgiving at his next start.

Orcein was finding the line well late on debut in third too.

Race 2: Bull Market - Benchmark 71 3YO Handicap (1400m)

A Snowden Quinella. The market had them the wrong way around though.

Bull Market ran to a Timeform rating of 92. Poetic Charmer was only narrowly beaten and carried 1.5kg more so he ran to a Timeform rating of 96.

They profile as two nice colts moving forward. The Snowden’s might give them one or two more runs this prep and then look toward something like the Scone Guineas later in the season.

Burden Of Proof was solid in fourth. He still has a low Benchmark and could take beating back to the midweeks or provincials.

Race 3: Dagny - Benchmark 87 Handicap (1800m)

Dagny had been solid without winning this prep.

Turns out she just needed some more ground. She’s run to a Timeform rating of 95 which is about her mark.

She’s shown she can get over ground now which adds another string to her bow.

Gambler’s Blues was strong second up. He should be ready to win third run from a spell.

Race 4: Positive Problems - Benchmark 82 Handicap (1200m)

Won at huge odds. She’s run to a Timeform rating of 96.

Positive Problems is a versatile sort of mare. She’s won from 1150m up to a mile.

As a whole too she’s relatively consistent. She’s simply snuck under the radar last Saturday after a forgettable first up outing.

Her and the runner up Miss Ballantine were each excellent. Both are open to improvement early in their preps and over more ground.

Race 5: Schedule - TAB Highway Handicap (1500m)

Schedule has been so consistent this prep. It was a deserved win and netted him a Timeform rating of 86.

The two horses he beat, Athonis and Realing are nice types too.

It might be a decent Highway Handicap moving forward.

Race 6: Invinzabeel - Benchmark 90 Handicap (1400m)

Invinzabeel has become a hard horse to catch. Not the punter’s pal. His past two wins have been recorded at $12 and $26.

He’s a good horse when he wants to be.

The runner up Just Dreaming, she was honest as always.

Morton’s Fork looks the horse to follow from the race though, if not the meeting. He caught the eye late. It’s worth noting too he was gelded in his latest spell.

This is a horse who won a Sandown Guineas as a three-year-old and has a master Timeform rating of 111. Being gelded might help him realise his potential as a racehorse this prep.

Race 7: Miss Dubois - The Country Classic (2000m)

Miss Dubois was extremely well suited under Set Weights. She was a city class horse with no weight in a country restricted race.

The wide barrier was the stalling point for many but Kerrin McEvoy was brilliant finding a great spot.

From there, Kerrin just had to get the mare out and let her class prevail.

Miss Dubois has run to a Timeform rating of 82. The start prior she ran to a Timeform rating of 93 behind Intueri. It highlights just how well Matt Dunn placed her on Saturday.

The runner up Wildflower improved sharply third up and out to 2000m. There is a 2000m Benchmark 80 at Rosehill in two week’s time connections should look at.

Race 8: Don’t Tease Me - Benchmark 80 Handicap (1100m)

It was a brave ride by Rachel Hunt and they deserved to be rewarded. The chasing pack let them have five lengths into the straight.

Don’t Tease Me ran to a Timeform rating of 88. He was an $8000 yearling purchase at Scone and he’s now won over $200k.

Bon Amis was $4000 and he’s won over $100k. It’s a quinella which shows you don’t have to break the bank to find a good one.

The runner up Bon Amis. Couldn’t stay unbeaten but he was good as was Test The World and Secret Trail.

The two mares Test The World and Secret Trail are the ones to follow. They were each first up and finding the line nicely out wide.

Race 9: Dreamforce - Benchmark 83 Handicap (1500m)

Two leaders won to round out the card. Dreamforce has always shown talent. He was gelded in his latest spell and that will be the making of him as a racehorse.

He’s run to a Timeform rating of 98. It could potentially be the tip of the iceberg.

Dreamforce is by Fastnet Rock out of a Group 1 winning mare Eskimo Queen. It would have been hard to geld him but at least connections should now have a lot of fun on racedays .
