Frespanol followed up some good form with a much deserved win in The Lakemba Club Filante Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Having run well for second the start prior with the big weight, the Gai Waterhouse-trained runner settled on the speed from barrier 7 and taking over proceedings at the 300m kicked clear to hold off the fast finishing Rock Sturdy.

Frespanol returned a career peak Timeform rating of 109, one pound higher than his second behind Nevagotavote the start prior and could head towards the Group 2 Villiers (1600m) next month.

The Racing and Sports Field Strength Value (RSFS) indicate it was a strong field and on par with that of a Group 3 with the time of 1:35.40 run considerably inside par.

Rudy, who took out the 2014 Villiers Stakes returned a Timeform figure of 110 on the back of the 106 he achieved in the Recognition Stakes a Doomben and should a similar field line up will put Frespanol right in the mix.

Of the beaten brigade Rock Sturdy produced a terrific run with the big weight of 60kg after the claim and returned a career Timeform peak figure of 118, above the 115 he achieved in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes.

Mr Manhattan followed up a good first up win with a narrow victory in the Canterbury Leagues Club Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m) coming from well back in the field.

The Joseph Pride-trained runner returned a career peak Timeform rating of 95, well above the 89 he achieved first up at Warwick Farm.

The RSFS Value is on par for a Benchmark 78 race with the Racing and Sports sectional splits indicating it was run inside race par.

Arguably the run of the race came from second placegetter Orujo who was only narrowly beaten with the 59.5kg.

The Godolphin runner got to the line well and returned a career peak figure of 96, his highest since running fourth in the Listed Kingston Stakes last year.

The four-year-old gelding has been very consistent in all four runs this campaign and if he can run up to anything near his peak rating (105) could measure up in some stakes races going forward.

The Matthew Smith-trained Zayam looks one on the rise after leading all the way to take out the Jaycar Electronics Benchmark 81 Handicap (2000m).

Beating his more fancied rivals in Sabkhat and Scherzoso, the lightly raced five-year-old gelding returned a peak Timeform figure of 95, four pounds above his win at Rosehill.

The RSFS value indicate it was below par for a Benchark 81 race with the time of 2:05.83 also outside race par.

Second placegetter Sabkhat ran a terrific race with the 60kg, only narrowly beaten and running to a clear career peak of 99, four pounds above his second placing behind Ruling Dynasty at Randwick three starts back.

The Godolphin runner has come back in good order this campaign and on recent results could measure up in some stakes races going forward.
