Fulham can do better vows Marco Silva

Fulham boss Marco Silva believes his side have made a strong start to the Premier League season but knows they must show a reaction after being held to a draw by Ipswich in their last game before the international break.

The Cottagers have taken four points from their opening three games, but were arguably unlucky to lose the opener away to Manchester United, beaten by a late Joshua Zirkzee goal in a 1-0 defeat.

They responded with victory over Leicester while also advancing in the Carabao Cup, but Silva was not happy with their performance in a 1-1 draw with Ipswich.

"The Man United game was a special game to be the first one," Silva said. "It was a game we played toe-to-toe with them. It was a was a good performance. A good reaction from ourselves against Leicester, it was clear we were the best team against Leicester and we won.

"And against Ipswich, a tough game like we expected. Performance wise it was not the best from us. Even so, we got one point…

"It's been a solid start. It makes an impact for the rest of the season. We know we are capable to do better. We are going to play much better than we did (at Ipswich). In the Premier League, you always have to be at your top level."

Silva admitted that Joachim Andersen and Sander Berge, who joined in the final days of the transfer window from Crystal Palace and Burnley respectively, were still acclimatising to the club, and he expects both players to improve as they settle in.

Next up is Fulham's first London derby of the season against a West Ham side still adjusting to new manager Julen Lopetegui.

"They have quality players who can punish you, it's going to demand a lot of concentration from ourselves," Silva said.

"We are going to do our best as normal to win the game. I'm sure our fans will play their part, they are crucial. Us together with them, let's hope we can have a great result and get the three points.

"The goal is to make this club better and better every single day. We want to make people proud of us. When they see us playing, they see something they're proud of. To see players fighting for the shirt."

Carlos Vinicius is the only absentee for Fulham after suffering a calf injury in training.
