Emerging Australian golf star Grace Kim has put herself in position to earn an LPGA Tour card after winning her maiden tournament as a professional.

Sydney golf sensation Grace Kim is a step closer to securing her LPGA Tour card after winning her maiden event as a professional.

With her father Kevin filling in as caddy, Kim closed with a seven-under-par 64 - including an eagle on the par-5 16th - to romp to a five-shot victory at the IOA Golf Classic in Florida.

The win in just her sixth start on the secondary Epson Tour propelled the 21-year-old from 75th to seventh in the 2022 Race for the Card.

The top 10 at the end of the year will earn 2023 LPGA Tour playing rights.

Fellow Australian Sarah Jane Smith (68) was second and compatriot Robyn Choi (67) tied for fourth.

"I did not expect a win this early in my career," said Kim.

"To have an Epson event as my first professional career win is quite special and to have dad on the bag is that little bit extra on top."

Kim is undoubtedly a star on the rise.

The Karrie Webb Scholarship holder turned pro last September following a distinguished amateur career.

Kim won the 2021 Australian Amateur and NSW Amateur, the 2020 NSW Amateur, the 2018 Youth Olympics gold medal and the 2017 Australian Junior Amateur.

She also won two events on the ALPG Tour as an amateur.
