Penpix for the eight Australians at the 2022 US PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

CAMERON SMITH

Age: 28

World ranking: 4

Best result in a major: 2nd (2020 Masters)

US PGAs played: 6 (5 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: tied 25th (2015)

A two-time PGA Tour winner already this year following record-setting victories at Sentry Tournament of Champions and then The Players, the short-game specialist is fast becoming a perennial threat at the big events. His tied third at last month's Masters was his sixth top-10 finish at a major, and fifth top-five placing. Big chance to break through.

Odds: $15

ADAM SCOTT

Age: 41

World ranking: 39

Best result in a major: champion (2013 Masters)

US PGAs played: 21 (16 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: 3rd (2018)

Australia's only ever Masters champion boasts six top-10s in the event and continues to believe he can bag a second career major. But time is running out for the sweetest-swinging ball striker in men's golf.

Odds: $51

LUCAS HERBERT

Age: 26

World ranking: 46

Best result in a major: tied 31st (2020 US Open)

US PGAs played: 3 (2 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: tied 71st (2019 and 2021)

The first Aussie to win US PGA and European Tour events in the same calendar year, as Scott, rightfully has lofty career ambitions. Hasn't showed a whole heap of form of late, though, so another cut made would be a good start.

Odds: $126

MARC LEISHMAN

Age: 38

World ranking: 48

Best result in a major: tied 2nd (2015 British Open)

US PGAs played: 11 (9 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: tied 12th (2013)

Will need to find his mojo fast having not posted a top-10 finish since his first event of the year in January. Has also missed the cut in his past three US PGA Championships but retains an ability to contend if his putter gets hot.

Odds: $67

MIN WOO LEE

Age: 23

World ranking: 54

Best result in a major: tied 14th (2022 Masters)

US PGAs played: none

The other half of world golf's most talented brother-sister act showcased his talent and appetite for the big stage with a scintillating final round at the Masters last month when he set the front-nine course record with a six-under 30.

Odds: $126

MATT JONES

Age: 42

World ranking: 74

Best result in a major: tied 21st (2015 US PGA Championship)

US PGAs played: 7 (5 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: tied 21st (2015)

The two-time Australian Open winner has enjoyed his most consistent major results at this tournament, including two top-30s and the halfway lead seven years ago, but will need to find another level to go with golf's heavyweights.

Odds: $126

CAM DAVIS

Age: 27

World ranking: 89

Best result in a major: tied 39th (2018 British Open)

US PGAs played: 1 (1 cut made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: tied 59th (2021)

Hasn't looked back since running down former world No.1 Jason Day to win the 2017 Australian Open. Claimed his maiden US PGA Tour win last year and comes in with confidence after flying home for third two starts back at the RBC Heritage event.

Odds: $151

JASON DAY

Age: 34

World ranking: 124

Best result in a major: champion (2015 US PGA Championship)

US PGAs played: 12 (10 cuts made)

Best finish at a US PGA Championship: champion (2015)

A shadow of the player who dominated world golf in 2015/16 but has been showing signs of life of late. Definitely capable of contending but only if he can string four solid rounds together. Winless in four years.

Odds: $41
