Port Adelaide's Justin Westhoff will play his 100th AFL match against Hawthorn, aiming to fill a likely void left by injured forward partner Jay Schulz.

Port Adelaide's Justin Westhoff hopes to rid his laconic, inconsistent tag in his next 100 AFL games.

"I probably cop a bit of criticism over my body language and things like that," Westhoff told reporters on Tuesday.

"You can only take that on face value - not everyone knows how hard guys work around the club.

"I have got a pretty big point to prove over the next few years.

"So I will take that as a challenge and, hopefully, my next 100 or so games is a lot better."

Westhoff plays his 100th AFL match against Hawthorn on Sunday, aiming to fill a likely void left by a rib injury to his forward partner Jay Schulz.

"I have got to step up and play that role to a certain extent," he said.

"If Schulzy doesn't play this week, it leaves a pretty big hole in the forward line.

"He is a great leader - he goes for broke the whole game so it's a big spot to fill.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I think I can do it for the team, for sure."

Port will also be without prime mover Travis Boak, who had foot surgery on Monday and will miss a month.

"It's obviously a big loss for the club," Westhoff said.

"Boaky is a big part of the team and structures but we have got guys coming in and having an impact."

Victorian-born Boak has said he'll decide whether to remain at Port next year during the mid-season break in a fortnight.
