With plenty of interest around Éclair Big Bang in the Caulfield Guineas, trainer Phillip Stokes will be out for a feature race double when Thomason steps out in the Listed Hill Smith Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
The three-year-old gelding has been working through the grades very well this preparation and will be in search of his third win in as many starts as he steps out to 1800m for the first time.
The Stokes stable has been in terrific form of late claiming recent wins with Éclair Big Bang and Molte Benne in Melbourne over the past three weeks, along with Forever Discreet in the Morphettville Guineas.
Thomason's biggest threat looks likely to come from Gamblin' Guru who was second behind Thomason last start and will appreciate the step up to 1800m along with Victorian raider Self Sense who has been running well in Melbourne this preparation.
With leading jockey Dom Tourneur in Melbourne for the ride of Éclair Big Bang, Matthew Neilson goes back on board having won his only time on board the three-year-old.
