Budriguez will look for an improved performance when he lines up in the Listed Penny Edition Stakes at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
The David Jolly-trained runner won two of his three starts last campaign which included a dead heat win in the Blamey Stakes with Puissance De Lune.
The early Melbourne Cup favourite resumed very well with a win in the P.B Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield last week and is now also favourite for the Cox Plate.
Jolly is hopeful Budriguez can continue the good Blamey Stakes form with a win this Saturday and said whatever the horse does now he will only improve into the spring.
“He probably ran as expected last start they were a bit sharp for him and he doesn't enjoy a wet track,” Jolly told Adelaide now.
“He's improved and he will probably run better on Saturday because it's over further (1400m) and on the inner track.”
Jolly said the now seven-year-old generally takes a few runs to get going and he is happy to let him cruise around over the shorter trips at home before taking him to Melbourne.
Spring Stakes winner Just Discreet has also accepted for the race with top South Australian jockey Dom Tourneur to go back on board.
The five-year-old mare is likely to start favourite in her search for a second black type win in as many starts and will also head to Melbourne for a spring campaign.
Both runners have drawn wide in barriers 11 and 12 respectively with the main danger appearing to be Golden Penny who was third in the Spring Stakes.
