The season's success of Kranji trainer Cliff Brown continued on Sunday at the SIA Cup and KrisFlyer International Sprint feature meeting with Jeram Clipper ridden by Danny Beasley taking out the opening race of the programme, the Singapore Airlines A380 Sydney Stakes Class 4 (1400m).
They then followed that win up three races later with Just Dashing who took out the Singapore Airlines A380 Paris Stakes Class 4 (1800m).
Jeram Clipper, a three-year-old Flying Spur gelding, was starting for the first time in Singapore after five starts in Australia under the name sedgman for Robert Smerdon which has yielded two second placings.
Jeram Clipper was no further back than fourth for the run to the wide bend on the Long Course.
With 250m to run Beasley sent Jeram Clipper forward and the race was effectively over as they ran out the winners with a comprehensive 2 1/2L margin over Affirmation in second and Speed Demon in third.
“We were confident going into the race and we thought he would run really well. He has really pleased us with what he had done and he worked well during the week so it is good,” said Brown.
“There is no future plan and we will just take him through his grades,” he added.
“He is a nice horse to come here who has shown a bit of form at home in Australia and still be eligible for a maiden. He is the perfect horse to come to Singapore,” said Beasley.
“All credit to Cliff, he gave him a prefect preparation and he trained him to perform here today. A big thanks to Mr Tan and Jeram Stables, they are great supporters of the stable. It has been a really good team effort,” he said.
Jeram Clipper is out of the Canny Lad mare Given and after two provincial seconds in Victoria last spring he arrived in Singapore on January 29th for Brown to start his Kranji preparation.
It was Just Dashing's third win from 20 starts and his first this year. A five-year-old gelding by Western Verse out of the Saratoga Springs mare Berkeley Springs Brown has brought him back to form after a last start third over 1400m on May 6th.
The double took Brown's total to 18 and to 32 for Beasley who sit seventh equal and second on their respective premierships for the season to-date.
