Betting on the Australian Derby and Australian Oaks hinges on the race plans for outstanding filly Mosheen.
Mosheen firmed to second favouritism for the David Jones Australian Derby at Randwick next Saturday after she extended her autumn winning sequence in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
She has firmed from $13 to $4.40 with TAB Sportsbet with only Laser Hawk ahead of her in the Derby market.
Mosheen strengthened her claims to win the Patinack Farm Australian Oaks after taking out today's Vinery Stud Stakes.
She also dominates the market on the Australian Oaks at Randwick on April 21 where she has firmed from $2.60 to $2.40 with NZ Derby winner Silent Achiever still the second favourite.
Silent Achiever is also third favourite for the Derby at $5.50, out from $4.80, with race plans for that filly also to be determined in the next 48 hours.
Streama, who finished strongly in the last 100m to finish second to Mosheen in the Vinery Stakes, is on the third line of Oaks betting at $4.20.
The other firmer in the Derby market was Polish Knight, an upset winner of the G2 Tulloch Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Hawkes-trained galloper came into $17 after being $51 prior to the win at his first Sydney start.
Strawberry Boy drifted from $15 to $26 for the Derby after being unplaced in the Tulloch Stakes.
Improvers in the Oaks market after the Vinery Stakes included Aliyana Tilde ($35 into $21) and Thy ($35 into $15).
In other betting action at Rosehill there were some huge bets placed on More Joyous to win her second G1 Queen of the Turf.
TAB Sportsbet reported that punters eagerly accepted the short odds with bets of $40,000 @ $1.85 and $40,000 @ $1.50.
Kings Rose, which ran third, had one punter cheering after placing a bet of $100,000 @ $1.69 for the mare to run a place.
Pierro's victory in the Golden Slipper also hit the spot with some big TAB Sportsbet punters.
One outlaid $16,000 @ $6 on PIerro during the week but on race day all the big money late was for the favourite Samaready including bets of $15,000 @ $2.70, $6000 @ $2.90 and $5500 @ $2.70 in the final few minutes of betting.
Others backed for big money included Driefontein ($12,000 @ $17, $3000 @ $11); Ashokan ($15,000 @ $35) and Jade Maurauder ($4000 @ $26 twice).
