Dual Group 1 winner Sincero had his first trial in readiness for an upcoming campaign at Rosehill this morning winning the 1100m narrowly ahead of More Joyous.

Sincero won the 1100m heat by a Short Half Head to More Joyous in the trial which also contained World Wide, Alma's Fury, Cardinal Virtue, Western Symbol and Win For Wilson.
Trainer Stephen Farley was pleased with the effort with the four-year-old gelding expected to resume in the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on March 24.
“It was a nice trial and everyone was pretty happy with it all and it all looks positive going forward,” said Farley.
“Hugh [Bowman] said they did not go overly quick early and he just put himself where he was happy to be and he had a nice sprint up from the 400m. We are looking to go to the races on Saturday fortnight with him and he will go to the Canterbury Stakes first up.”
The Umatilla gelding has not raced since the spring with his previous campaign culminating with an underwhelming seventh in the Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) behind Glass Harmonium.
“He has matured a lot and learnt a lot from the spring and he looks sensational within himself at the moment and going forward,” Farley told Sky Sports Radio.
“We will just weigh it up if he has normal trackwork or has an exhibition gallop at home, and we will see how he comes on from this run and what he needs to do for the next fortnight.
“He had a nice blow this morning and that will bring him on again and he is in great order,” he said.
Farley said that after the Canterbury Stakes Sincero would contest the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) two weeks later.
He would then assess the campaign path before deciding on either continuing toward the Doncaster Mile at Randwick on April 21 or giving Sincero a freshen before returning to Brisbane to defend his Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap crown.
Runner up More Joyous is Doncaster Mile bound with the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) seven days later another possible goal.
19 heats were conducted at Rosehill this morning seven of which were 900m 2YO trials.
Arguably the most eye catching hit-out was that of the Tim Martin-trained Lightning Drew who won Heat 12 by 10 lengths in a time if 53.32 seconds.
Other notable runners to trial at Rosehill this morning included Graceful Anna and Pinwheel who finished second and third respectively in a 900m heat behind the Allan Denham-trained Mumslad.
