Rosie's Reward has claimed the Fillies And Mares Blackwoods Galmet Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill after connections lodged a successful protest against unofficial winner Dystopia for interference over the final stages.

The Gerald Ryan-trained Rosie's Reward was looking for her first win this campaign in today's Fillies and Mares Blackwoods Galmet Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill following some honest efforts.

From barrier one Rosie's Reward received a cosy run in transit sitting behind the leader Trilione after being one of the best away.

Locked away in a pocket for most of the straight, Rosie's Reward under the guidance of Adam Hyeronimus found a small split just outside the 100m and proceeded to charge home.

The pair however were just edged out on the line by Chris Waller-trained mare Dystopia.

A protest was subsequently lodged on returning to scale with connections of Rosie's Reward alleging interference inside the final 100m claiming Dystopia shifted in.

Further study of the replay during the protest confirmed this with connections of Rosie's Reward suggesting the mare lost a half length due to Dystopia shifting inwards.

Connections of Dystopia in Chad Schofield and Chris Waller claimed while their mare was shifting in, the extent of it was accentuated by contact made on her by Rosie's Reward and Schofield had straightened his mount prior to the bump.

With the margin between the pair roughly a half head, stewards decided the interference was the difference between Rosie's Reward claiming a sixth career success and upheld the protest.

The upheld protest resulted in Rosie's Reward becoming the official winner over Dystopia with Trilione holding on for third.

Race favourite Miss Marx finished fourth.

The protest result spoiled what would have been a winning treble for Chris Waller and took the gloss away from what was an eye catching ride from apprentice Chad Schofield.

From the widest barrier, Schofield managed to get Dystopia into a near ideal position, midfield one off the fence with Waller complimentary of the ride prior to the subsequent protest.

“It was a gem of a ride from Chad [Schofield] to get her in that position from that draw,” Waller said.

“I will have to go back and watch how he did it and then show it to his father [Glyn Schofield].”

Today's success was the first for Rosie's Reward since being transferred to Gerald Ryan from Gosford trainer Damon Pemberton.

Her race record now stands at six wins, two minor placings and prizemoney earnings upwards of $160,000.
