Morphettville Races Review on 23rd April 2022

Ballarat trainer Archie Alexander was the first out of the blocks when his charge Vardani took out the opening event which was run over 2500 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Guided to victory by Zac Spain Vardani raced in a forward position before getting to the lead in the straight.

Prairie Flower  gave trainer Henry Dwyer another win for Ballarat trainers in the 1050 metre second race.

Having the services of apprentice Will Price Prairie Flower came from a worse than midfield position to bring up her second win from five starts.

Woodchester trainer Shayne Oxlade was all smiles when Queman took out the 1200 metre third race.

Guided to victory by Justin Potter Queman, second up after a spell, came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages of the event.

Silver on Red continued the good run of trainer David Jolly when he took out the 1050 metre fourth race.

Coming off a strong Moonee Valley second two starts ago the Paul Gatt guided Silver on Red travelled one off the pace before bringing up his fourth win from thirteen starts.

Leon Macdonald, the senior member of the Macdonald/Gluyas training partnership, received a belated 80th birthday present when Another Award took out the 1200 metre fifth race.

Having the services of Jessica Eaton Another Award came from a near last position with a withering run over the concluding stages of the event to bring up successive wins.

Bella Vella  made a triumphant return to racing after a 12 month absence when she took out the Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes which was contested over 1100 metres.

Prepared by Will Clarken and having the services of Kayla Crowther Bella Vella led all the way.

Kayla Crowther landed the second leg of a running double when she steered Big Sue  to a win in the 1600 metre seventh race.

Prepared at Telopea Downs by Darryl Dodson Big Sue jumped well and settled fourth before going on to claim the event.

Coming off a last start second at Moonee Valley champagne Dreams achieved black type status when she took out the listed Redela Stakes which was run over 1100 metres.

Jointly prepared at Strathalbyn by Wayne Francis and Glen Kent the Jake Toeroek ridden Champagne Dreams led all the way.

Jake Toeroek landed the second leg of his back-to-back double when Impossible Action took out the 1600 metre final event.

Continuing the outstanding run of the father and daughter training combination of Richard and Chantelle Jolly Impossible Action was well placed.
