Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 20th & 22nd of April

Mister Yeoh has bounced back from a disappointing run in the THR Sprint to claim victory in the Group 2 Singapore THR Classic (1400m) on Sunday.

The Cliff Brown-trained runner settled just off midfield from barrier 8 and had all the favours coming to the turn, hitting the lead inside the final 100m to hold off the very impressive Be Bee by half a length with King Louis third.

Having settled too close to the lead from a wide draw in the Sprint, Michael Rodd was able to get Mister Yeoh in the perfect spot to settle over the 1400m trip and continue his strong form since coming to Singapore.

The three-year-old gelding stamped himself as a horse to follow when winning his Singapore debut by seven and a half lengths before his luckless effort in the sprint.

The former Australian runner ran to a clear new career peak Timeform figure of 97, 11 pounds above his previous best two starts back and the same as 2017 Classic winner Countofmontecristo.

The 2017 renewal mirrors that of this year pretty well with second placegetter Could Be Pearls running to a Timeform figure of 96, the same as Be Bee, five pounds above his win in the Sprint.

Earlier in the day Target continued his strong recent form to make it three wins in a row when taking out the Kranji Stakes C (1700m) on the Polytrack.

Target returned a Timeform figure of 83, his highest since coming to Singapore, three pounds above his previous win in the same company the start prior.

Having always showed ability, Target has now gone to another level as he has stepped up in trip and is certainly one to keep an eye on going forward.

Friday night saw Preditor appreciate the drop in grade with a one length win over Viviano in the Kranji Stakes A (1400m).

Having been well held his last two outings in Group 3 company, the Shane Baertschiger-trained runner made good ground from midfield to secure his first win since August last year.

Preditor ran to a Timeform figure of 99, his highest since running fifth in the Group 1 Singapore Derby last year (103).

The five-year-old has now won six of his 20 starts and could well have turned the corner this preparation having blown the cobwebs off his first two starts.
