Sandbar wins 2018 T’bred Breeders Lonhro Plate Listed $125,000 at Warwick Farm (NSW), 1100m.

Sandbar upset the warm favourite to take his record to two wins in two starts. He jumped well but was kept out early to be three wide but handy, where he remained around the turn, moving forward to second into the straight.

Rider Christian Reith asked for more at the 300m but the response was missing. They were third at the 200m and looked beaten but the youngster grabbed the bit and charged for the line between runners, doing best by a neck in a determined finish.

Favourite Satin Slipper rounded into the straight in fourth, looked the one to beat past the 200m but could not match the determination of the winner.

Oxford Tycoon led for most of the journey, was clear at the 200m but ran out of gas to finish third ahead of Osorno who ran into fourth along the fence.
