Bit Lippy wins 2018 Phoenix Park 2yo Classic Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Pukekura Raceway (NZ), 1200m.
Rewarded after three stakes placings (including twice second to the unbeaten Melt) in his only starts, Bit Lippy proved too strong with a nice win here. He was third early then fourth in the small field of seven before moving up three wide at the 600m.
Rider Cameron Lammas kept up the pressure approaching the last corner to challenge three wide turning in. He co-led once into the straight but took over at the 250m, broke clear and then Lammas allowed him to coast to the line by three quarters of a length.
Platinum Mam'selle was equal last (inner) passing the 600m, got off the fence before the straight, got into the clear and tried hard to catch the winner without success.
Handsome Rebel was last and widest into the straight and was doing his best work late to rush into third from Wisdom Patch who had every chance but faded late for fourth.
