Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 19th - 23rd January

There has been plenty of quality racing in Singapore over the past week with Kranji holding three meetings in the past five days.

On Friday night Red Riding Wood continued his strong recent form, claiming his third win in a row when taking out the Class 4 Non Premier (1700m) on the Polytrack.

Settling just off the leaders in fourth for much of the race, Red Riding Wood peeled wide on the turn and did enough over the concluding stages to edge out his rivals for a half a length win over Target in second with Panache third.

The four-year-old gelding returned a new career peak Timeform rating of 70p, nine pounds above his previous win in a Class 5 and has gone from strength to strength for the new yard.

With three recent wins under his belt, the son of Redwood (GB) can continue to make his way through the grades and is certainly worth keeping an eye on going forward.

Other impressive winners from the night came from Mr Fantastic who upstaged his more fancied rivals in the Kranji Stakes A (1400m) on the turf, running to a new career peak of 103 in the process.

The Ricardo Le Grange-trained runner who was up on the speed for much of the race got the better of the likes of Majestic Moments, Eclipse Splash and Gilt Complex and looks set to line up in some feature races going forward.

Nova Strike did not quite run up to his best form but was able to win the other Kranji Stakes A (1400m) on the card and continue his strong recent form.

On Sunday, Mr Clint was able to overcome a wide draw to take out the Class 4 Premier race over 1400m, his second win from only five career starts, placing on the other three occasions.

Taken forward from barrier 7, Mr Clint proved too strong for his rivals over the final stages, winning by just under a length from Country Warrior in second with Mr Mosa third.

Returning a Timeform figure of 81p and beating the older horses in the process, Mr Clint ran slightly above his previous second in the Class 4 on New Years Day and is certainly a horse with plenty of improvement to come.

Country Warrior in second did not have a great deal of luck and on another day could have scored the win, caught behind runners at a crucial stage of the race but was still very good to the line in second.

Has managed just the one win in 23 starts but has placed a further 10 occasions and with three seconds in his last three starts is rarely too far away at the finish.

The final meeting of the week saw Dalgety return to form with a big win in the Class 4 Non Premier (1600m) by a commanding four and a half lengths.

Settling midfield from the inside draw, the Steven Burridge-trained runner found a big gap at the top of the straight, taking the lead at the 400m and running away for an easy win over Amazing Man in second with Billy Britain third.

The lightly raced Dalgety ran to a new career peak Timeform figure of 80p and with more improvement to come over the staying trips you would expect can go on with it now as he makes his way through the grades.
