Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 1st September

Kratos has continued his strong Polytrack form with a terrific win in the Class 3 over 1000m at Kranji on Friday night, the only Singapore meeting of the weekend.

Coming off a resuming win in a Class 4 over the same track and distance, Kratos once again showed his speed to go straight to the lead from barrier 6 and fought on strongly to win by a length from Pole Paradise with Mr Luck third.

Carrying just 51.5kg and ridden by Barend Vorster, Kratos ran a figure higher than his first up win and on par with his second placing behind Nova Missile before a spell last campaign and is now building up an impressive career record.

The son of Guillotine has not missed the placings since his debut effort and based on both runs this campaign looks set for a good campaign ahead.

Kratos has not yet ventured past the 1000m trip but as he matures could step up in distance however whilst he continues to race so well over the 1000m dash, Brown could elect to keep the lightly raced four-year-old over the 1000m dash.

Of the beaten runners, the well tried Pole Paradise ran his best race for some time and despite not having won over the 1000m, some of his best runs have come over the shorter trip.

Mr Luck in third ran a big race with the 57kg after settling just off the leaders and was able to return to some sort of form after being well beaten in a Kranji Stakes C the start prior.

The favourite Splinter did a good job to finish fourth and probably just found himself a little bit too far back in the field early on but made good ground to finish just over three lengths from the winner.

Kratos was certainly the most impressive winner of the day along with Justice First who followed up two poor efforts with a win in the Class 4 over 1200m after settling back in the field from the midfield draw.

Ridden by Michael Rodd, Justice First made impressive ground down the outside in the straight, running out a one length winner over Board Walk in second with Astrojet third.

The former UK runner ran his highest rating since coming to Singapore in what was also his first Kranji win.

Justice First certainly had things go his way with a strong tempo up front but if he can maintain this level there certainly looks to be more wins to come.
