It's Somewhat wins 2016 Ajax Stakes Group 2 $175,000 at Rosehill (NSW) 3yo+, 1500m.

It's Somewhat winning the Ajax Stakes Picture: Racing and Sports

It's Somewhat worked in the early stages from his wide barrier (11) before settling outside the leader (Good Project) at the 1000m. He challenged nearing the home turn, grabbed a good break at the 200m and then fought back gamely after his early efforts to score a good win.

Excess Knowledge settled in midfield, wide with cover, after starting from barrier ten. He moved up nicely at the 300m and then kept making good ground, running on well for a good firstup second.

Dances On Stars was eased in the early stages and settled in last place in the 12-horse field. He went deep at the 300m and ran on strongly for a close-up third.

Kool Kompany was slowly away, was last early on but made a quick recovery, showing pace to settle in fourth place. He put in a run at the 200m and then fought nicely for (2.9 lengths) fourth.

Generalife raced towards the tail of the field and made late ground for (3.3 lengths) a sound fifth.
