Girl Of My Dreams wins 2016 Platinum Homes Taranaki Cup Group 3 NZ$80,000 at Pukekura Raceway (NZ), 1800m.
Girl Of My Dreams drew the outside of the ten runners but was quickest away and challenged Just The Tip for the lead as they passed the judge with a round to go. One off the fence Just The Tip took over on the far bend and slotted in behind with a lovely trail. Down the back straight she held her position and kept the leader honest. Rounding the home bend she held third but had moved off the rails to ensure a clear run and turned in three wide. Inside the 300m she ranged up then took the lead and ridden strongly drew away over the last 150m for a solid win.
Silverdale was last down the back straight and third last (inner) round the home corner. When the field bunched approaching the straight he was still on the rail and needed space which presented itself fairly late and he finished quite well for second but was never going to overhaul the winner.
Storming The Tower was sixth down the back then moved sharply to be handy starting the bend. He turned in fourth, hit a flat spot but picked it up again in the last 100m to grab third.
