Danza Lad wins 2015 Merial Ancare Metric Mile Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Awapuni (NZ), 1600m.
Danza Lad jumped well and was handy but wide early only to fall back to midfield far into the back straight. With 600m to run the pace quickened appreciably and Danza Lad, made a strong forward move to be alongside the leaders but out in the middle of the track when they straightened. At the 150 metres he was well clear and although kept up to his work was never in any danger of being caught. An easy win.
Authentic Paddy upped the tempo at the 600 metres to challenge the leader The Filly and for a stride held the lead into the straight but could not withstand Danza Lad’s run yet held on well to the line.
Favourite Spoke To Carlo was last in a packed field at the 600m and had to thread his way through to make his run. Danza Lad had broken away by the time Spoke To Carlo got going and although finishing well the winner was too far in front.
