Alcaldesa wins 2015 H S Dyke Wanganui Guineas Listed NZ$50,000 at Wanganui (NZ) 3yo, 1340m.
Alcaldesa settled down in third last position three wide with a trail about 15 lengths from the leader Perfect Suggestion in a very fast run race. She was taken very wide on turning for home and hit a flat spot at the top of the straight before motoring home late on to grab an unlikely victory right on the line.
Perfect Harmonee enjoyed a nice run in sixth position between runners. He came with his run back towards the fence before switching off the heels of the leaders at the 250m. Hitting the front inside the final 50m under hard riding to just be grabbed right on the line by the winner on his outside.
Lucky Edie ran well in defeat. He chased the leader Perfect Suggestion in the early stages of the race and took the field up to him. He took the lead at the 200m and battled on gamely the whole way to the line to be beaten less than a length. A good effort after doing a lot of work in the run.
