Sakhee’s Soldier wins 2014 Eagle Technology Stakes Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Ellerslie (NZ), 1600m.
Appearing to have plenty of zest in his preliminary despite breaking 1:35 when winning over a mile only seven days earlier,Sakhee's Soldier sat off the pace in seventh before ranging to challenge four wide rounding the home bend and he retained ahalf length advantage after quickening to lead at the 300m.
Tardy to begin, Veyron worked hard when circling around to lead at the 1000m before attempting to steady the pace. To his credit, Veyron fought tenaciously when tackled and held second comfortably.
Third placed Shandream received an economical trip in fourth and was clear to challenge at will from the 600m. Back and wide throughout, Packing Tycoon was flushed widest of all from the 600m and did well to sustain his run in finishing fourth.
