Stratum Star wins 2014 Crown Lager Stakes Listed $120,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 3yo Colts & Geldings, 1400m.

Stratum Star winning the Crown Lager Stakes Picture: Racing and Sports

Stratum Star came from ninth in the run three wide with a trail. He commenced a wide forward move approaching the 600m and turned for home on the outside of the field. He put up a big finish picking, up the leaders at the 200m before lugging back towards the fence, having enough in hand to score.

Manhattan Avenue raced on the inside of the winner and then followed him into the race. He could not quicken up as well as the winner at the 300m, but wound up strongly to keep closing to the line, to just miss. A solid effort.

Careless enjoyed a nice run in fifth position three back on the fence. He pushed off the fence on the point of the bend and then switched out three wide into the clear. He kept finding the line, to finishing a non threatening third. A sound effort.
