Mihalic was among the cleanest away from the barriers and was taken towards the centre of the track, settled some three lengths off the pace by jockey Mark Zahra. Hitting the front 300m from home, Mihalic needed two or three reminders to keep up with her task but held on from the late-closing Iceflow, who finished strongly from the rear.

The early pace was strong, thanks to Our Red Dog, who tracked across to the rail from the widest barrier but

could not maintain that momentum and finished last of the 11.

Lake Jackson was a little slow getting away from the barriers but tracked the winner and stayed on well once getting a clear run to the inside of Iceflow.
