The favourite Alma’s Fury began well and then enjoyed a good trip in fourth place, one out and one back most of the way.

He got a perfect split between runners on straightening, challenged at the 200m and then proved too good with his top weight (59.5kg) to win by a length and three quarters.

Spitfire Lady raced behind the leader (Startsmeup), got inside that runner on turning for home and took the lead at the 300m. She then kept fighting on for second, finding the winner too strong despite her 5.5kg advantage.

Black Cash was sixth between runners before angling into the clear at the 250m. He put in a run shortly afterwards and kept battling on for a sound third.

Jetset Lad was again ridden patiently and remained in second last place in the 15-horse field most of the way to the turn. He got a run in the centre at the 300m and made late ground for a good fourth, beaten just over two lengths.
