Sonntag began well and eased to enjoy a good trip being a handy fourth. He moved up rounding the home turn, challenged strongly at the 300m and he then dug deep in a driving run to the line to score narrowly but well.

Pinstripe Lane travelled nicely outside the leader Rudy before hitting the lead shortly after turning into the straight. He battled gamely from there, failing narrowly for a game second.

Vilanova was well back 12th place to the 600m before making ground wide out nearing the turn. He put in a strong run at the 200m and looked a real danger before battling on well for a close-up third.

NZ filly Rock Diva travelled in eighth place on the rails, got through between runners half-way down the straight and battled on nicely for (1.2 lengths) fourth while Amexed travelled midfield and wide before making ground for fifth.
